Volunteering Otago

30 Jan 2014

Volunteering Otago helps connect people who want to volunteer their time, skills and energy with local community organisations that need help.

And to do that well, the organisation funds training regular programmes to help upskill these much-valued volunteers. Manager Anna Clere said training is an essential component to creating a good volunteer culture, and it relies on help to fund this component of their service.

The Otago Community Trust donated $7000 in 2012 to help the helpers, assisting with Volunteering Otago's training day in Cromwell. Over 40 people attended, coming away with a variety of skills from rewarding and communicating, to understanding the needs of different generations.
