Toitu Otago Early Settlers Museum

It's hoped the redeveloped Toitu Otago Early Settlers Museum will attract a record 250,000 visitors over the next year. The Otago Community Trust is proud to have had a part to play in this revitalisation, donating $225,000 in 2012 for display cabinets throughout the exhibition areas during stage four of its redevelopment.
The major multi-million dollar museum redevelopment saw a new entrance built complete with shop and café, enhanced exhibit spaces, education and function areas, international standard climate-controlled storage and conservation workspace, and a strengthened building.
Museum Board deputy Chair Phil Dowsett said the result is a well used facility that impresses its visitors - part of that enjoyment for visitors is the quality of the displays, thanks to the Trust. "There was a lot of community contribution, and it is very much a community facility."
