Spectacular Warbirds Display Takes Flight over Wānaka
27 May 2024
The Otago Community Trust was proud to once again support the Warbirds Over Wānaka International Airshow over Easter weekend.
As part of the festival, the trust helped fund the free community airshow held on the Wānaka lakefront on Good Friday, which attracted thousands of locals and families from across the wider Central Otago and Whakatipu regions.
The lakeside event is a beloved tradition, aimed at bringing the community together to enjoy the spectacle of classic and modern aircraft performing thrilling displays against the backdrop of the Southern Alps.
Events like this are all about celebrating the community and giving everyone a chance to experience the thrill of world-class aviation. The free lakeside airshow typically attracts around 8,000 people, with up to 3,000 of those being children and teenagers. In addition to the flying displays, the event provides free entry for under-16s to the main Warbirds Over Wānaka airshow on Good Friday.
With perfect weather and clear skies, this year's lakeside airshow was another roaring success, delighting spectators of all ages.
