South Otago Theatrical Society - Annie
7 Nov 2013
Shows by the South Otago Theatrical Society are always good entertainment, but the 2012 production of Annie was a particularly popular choice for the people of Balclutha, possibly due to the fact that a eight-year-old performer and a dog called Sandy stole the show.
The Otago Community Trust provided $4,000 towards staging the musical, which incorporated a cast of 34 including nine children, a backstage crew of 16 and a dog.
Musical director Marne Hendriks said it is always great to involve children and newcomers to the show, especially helping them understand the technical parts of what happens behind the scene. "It's hard work, but it's also lots of fun, and we love that so many South Otago people can come along and enjoy it."
