Rosebank School outdoor redevelopment
29 Aug 2013
Several classrooms at Rosebank School in Balclutha were upgraded over 2012, but the school had no funding for the extras like an electronic whiteboard, and a covered deck to extend the classroom space outside.
So they asked the Otago Community Trust for $15,000 for equipment and to develop the outdoor space. School principal Pauline Simpson said they are delighted with the resulting outdoor flow from classroom to the new deck and canopy. The area provides a very welcome extended learning environment - is a great place to read and work, a good place to eat lunch, it gives shade from the heat and glare in the summer, as well as shelter on the wet days. "We appreciate that the Trust funds are there; without it we would still be chipping away at fundraising. The benefits are there for all to enjoy."
