Owaka 150th Celebrations

The celebrations started with the official opening in the Owaka Community centre, followed by the unveiling of the new town structure "The Waka". The four day celebration had plenty to entertain both young and old, with an old fashioned sports day, film footage from the past, historical tours, the 150th Shipwreck Ball, the beard growing competition and much much more.

Convenor, Anne-Marie Holland said that the anniversary celebrations were “absolutely fantastic, they exceeded our expectations, we were thrilled with the result”. The Otago Community Trust congratulates the committee of the Owaka 150th Celebrations and the wider Owaka and Catlin's community for the great success of this community event.
