Central Rock Climbing Club

Rock climbing is a great way to enjoy the outdoors and gain confidence, and the Otago Community Trust has been helping the Central Rock Climbing Club to introduce youngsters to the joy of climbing.

The Trust donated $3000 to help the Club purchase climbing equipment, something that made a difference to the numbers it could take on its courses. Club members can now introduce up to 15 children to climbing rock faces in various places around Central Otago each week. "This simply wouldn't happen without the Trust's support – it's fantastic to be able to have our own gear instead of borrowing, and we're pleased to have created a lot of interest in rock climbing in the area," Club climbing instructor Ian Knights said.
